{Mixed Media Journal Page + video}

Yay, finally! I've been having the most frustrating internet issues this past week, actually truth be told it's been more like 2 months.  For some reason our modem keeps losing connection every few minutes or so thus freezing everything in the process. Ive tried to upload this video at least 3 times before I finally gave up out of frustration. I'm happy to say that I've been online for the past 45 minutes straight, yay me!! Okay, well let me get to the point before I jinx anything :)

Here's the journal page and video I mentioned in my last post. I basically recreated the mixed media tags from that post, into a journal page.  If I have to be honest though, I wanted to journal but just didn't feel like cleaning up in order to do so. That led me to the decision to just use what was already on my table :) So there you have it, a way to kill two birds with one stone or so goes the saying.  

I took pictures prior to my journaling on the page because while I definately love to share what I make with you, the journaling this time around were meant for my eyes only. Hope you understand :)
I'm so loving all the texture on the page, definately going to be using molding paste and glass bead gel more often. I wish you could see/feel the texture, somehow pictures just doesn't capture it.

{Mixed Media Tags + Video} and {Mini Giveaway}

Hello!!
So, I recently joined a tag swap hosted by Bona on her blog keeponscrappin.
It's been ages since I participated in a swap and jumped at the chance at participating in this one as I've never done a mixed media tag swap before. I was lucky too, I took the last open slot :)

I didn't have anything planned for the tags except that I wanted to add some molding/modeling paste since that was an optional challenge. So I gathered up some of my favorite paint and ink spray colors and just started playing.

I mentioned in yesterday's post that I was going to have another small giveaway.

I had such a blast creating these tags that I decided that I wanted to spread the fun to someone else. So, I created a mini kit with some of the supplies I used to create these tags.  The winner also gets one of the tags I created because I was having too much fun that I lost count when I was making them and ended up with one too many :)

{Hello Blog, I'm back} and {Giveaway winners}

Hi there! Sorry it's been a super long time since I've blogged. It's been a crazy summer with unexpected out of town guests for pretty much the entire month of July, computer issues and other stuff I won't bore you with. Anyway, summer is officially over (at least the season is but it's still unbearably hot where I live) and now I'm hoping to get back into the groove of things.

I haven't done as much artsy and crafty things this summer as I had originally planned to but will share what I did do in later posts.

{Get Creative} Journal Page

Yay, Happy Friday!

I just wanted to quickly share a new journal page. I was watching Donna Downey's inspiration Wednesday video and it totally inspired me to create a page with butterflies. So yesterday, I did just that :)

I originally planned on sharing a video process as well of this page but unfortunately when I went to edit the video I didn't realize that somewhere in the middle of the whole process my webcam shut off. Total Duh! on my part, what a bummer :(

{Me again, with another journal page}

Hey again!
Wow, 2 posts in one day! Lol, I just wanted to quickly share a journal page I did on Thursday while I was sitting at the courthouse fulfilling my jury duty obligations :p

Luckily the background for this page was completed awhile ago, all I had to do was doodle and journal on it.  I was even approached by a lady who was intrigued by what I was doing. I explained the whole concept of art journaling and she said she's definately gonna give it a try. Totally love that, when you know you've inspired someone to give art a try! Yay, for art journaling :p

Lol, I just realized I didn't erase all my pencil lines before taking these pics, oh well :p

I don't remember exactly what I used to complete the background.  I believe I used some type of glimmer mist because well, the page is glimmery ;p  I do know that the flowers were stamped with versamark ink and embossed with clear embossing powder. 

As for the journaling and striped border, I was using a sharpie pen and a yellow faber castell pitt pen.

I was working on some other pages as well, but this was the only completed one. I'll share the others when they're done :)

{Live Your Life In COLOR} journal page + video

Hey there!
Hope you're all enjoying your weekend thus far. It's actually beautiful and sunny at the moment where I am, but it is expected to rain later. That means it would have rained here for 8 days straight.  Not that I really mind, it's been unbearably hot and our lawn was starting to turn brown but now it's lush and green :) Plus, I have no plans except to cuddle up on the sofa with a good book.

{Mini Kit Giveaway}

Hi all!
Happy Friday! So this is gonna be a bit of a long post with ALOT of pics so I'll try to keep the writing at a minimum :p

As I stated in a different post I wanted to have a small giveaway of some mini kits I had put together awhile ago. I made these for some mini kit swaps that I ended up not participating in. The paper lines used are not "new" but are still super cute. If you're new to scrapbooking or mini albums then youre in luck, hopefully you won't own any of these paper lines :) Or maybe you'll be lucky in that you did own them, but now they may no longer be available to purchase. Either way I'm sure if you win you'll find use for them.  So here goes, I'll be posting pics of the kits and the projects I created using them.  Please click on the photo for a closer look.

{Finding my groove} + {A Journal Page and Video}

Hey there, it's me!

Wow, it's definately been awhile! Sorry I haven't been around, I really didnt expect to be gone for so long.  What can I say, that's life I guess.  Life has been a bit of a whirlwind for the past couple of months, nothing bad, just alot of things going on at once. Don't worry I'll spare you all the excuses and reasons for my absence :p

That being said, once things started settling down I was finding it a bit difficult to get back into my normal groove. I felt I wasnt in the right frame of mind to blog, create, and just play.  My creative "mojo" seemed to still be on hiatus, although my heart was telling me it was time to jump back in. I have to admit I always feel guilty when I read the blogs of some of my fave artists and although they are super busy, they always seem to find time to create.  How do they do it, talk about discipline! While me on the other hand, who does have spare time can barely get past just staring at all my supplies (although I do enjoy that too) :p

Anyway, here's me jumping back in and trying to get back in the swing of things :)  Thank you to all you wonderful readers who have continued to visit this little blog of mine.  Knowing you take the time to stop by definately keeps me motivated to create and share!

Here is a journal page I created the other day.  I decided to use the 5/15 prompt over at A Year In The Life Of An Art Journal as a way to jump start my creative mojo, and it worked! If you haven't visited their blog, definately check it out.  The prompts are wonderful, although unfortunately I haven't been keeping up with them as I had originally intented to. It's been awhile once again! I hope your all doing well!
There's been alot of things going on with me lately so I haven't been able to post for some time, sorry!
I just celebrated a birthday too and it's got me feeling a bit down, lol!
Anyway, I guess I can at least say I'm consistent.....with being inconsistent in my blogging :p

I just wanted to quickly check in and say HELLO!
I have two art journal videos to edit and I hope to post soon (well, hopefully soon).
I've also been doing some spring cleaning and found some old mini album kits I put together awhile ago. I think they'd make for a fun giveaway. I'll probably put together a small giveaway as well, for those of you who are mainly art journalers. So stay tuned....

{ATC Binder} and {WOYWW}

Hello! I hope everyone is having a great week thus far.  It's Wednesday so I guess it's time to share WOYWW :) Please visit Julia on her blog for more info on WOYWW.

Here is what I've been busy doing:

This is actually a project I started awhile back but never finished till now.  I decorated a mini album binder with the intention of making it a place I could put some of my art experiments in.  I like to play with different techniques/mediums and thought it would be fun to have that all in one binder that I could go refer to for some inspiration. 

I was at the dollar store the other day and found some trading card plastic sleeves and bought them because, well, they were a dollar, and I was also thinking that I'd like to play around making some ATC's.  I know I'm way behind on the times, but it was something that I never got around to trying :p

When I got home I scoured my space for a spare binder to store my plastic sleeves in and although I found some, they were just not pretty enough to store some artsy atc's. I could have decorated a binder but I just was not motivated to. As I pondered what to do I spotted something from the corner of my eye sitting on a dusty shelf, yep it was the mini binder I decorated way back when. So light bulb flashing in my mind I decided that was where my future atc's will be housed in.

So, to get to the point as this is becoming a rather dull long post :p I began by trimming down the plastic sleeves to size. The sheets come with 9 pockets (3 across and 3 down) but I had to trim off 1 pocket in each row of 3 in order to fit the binder, no biggie :p 

The plastics were pretty flimsy so I decided to reinforce where the holes would be for binding by adding a strip of light weight chipboard. I tried at first to sew the plastic and chipboard so that it would look pretty but that didn't turn out as I hoped (I was able to sew 2, then the machine quit on me).  As I've mentioned in a previous post somewhere I don't own a sewing machine, what I do have is one of those mini machines that are suppose to be for scrapbooking. There's no way I would ever consider that a sewing machine (at least not with a straight face :p). Anyway, now I know why that machine has been sitting on my shelf collecting dust for the past 8 yrs or so!

I ended up stapling the chipboard to the plastic with my TimHoltz tiny attacher.  I then decided to add a piece of washi tape to cover the staples and make it more pretty.  I punched some holes with my crop-o-dile and then I was done!
