Altered Paper Mache Dress Form

Haloo! Here is the project I completed as an entry for the I Am Roses "In the garden" creative contest on YouTube.  I really had a blast working on this project and love how it turned out.  Here's what I did:

I started with this paper mache dress form.  Sorry, but I unfortunately do not know the manufacturer. I've had this stashed away for at least 2 years waiting for the perfect thing to make with it.

 Here are the colors I used to paint the dress form first.
I also used these colors to paint the wood pieces as well.

I had these in my stash for I couldn't even tell you how long :p It has to be at least 6 years *gasp*!  I believe I bought them at Michaels but I'm not sure whether they still have them.

I covered the dressform and wood pieces first with clear gesso.

I painted the wood parts first with Carbon Black, then glazed it over with Raw Umber.  I painted the upper body part with a mixture of Titan Buff and Burnt Sienna to create the flesh tone I liked.








Here are what the other wood pieces look like after painting and distressing them.                                                                                                       

                                                                                                           

I attached some lace and trim along the bottom of the dressform.  The lace was glimmer misted with Old Lace. I hot glued some grass diecuts by Jolees which I glimmer misted first with English Ivy.                                       

I then wrapped twine halfway around the base and distressed it with Frayed Burlap distress ink. I hot glued the wood fence which was distressed first with Frayed Burlap as well.  Then hot glued the wood gardening tools.  

                                                                                                  

I glimmer misted all the flowers with Old Lace and smooch spritzed it with Pralines and Cream and Vanilla Shimmer.  I distressed the edges of all the flowers with Vintage Photo distress ink then hot glued them onto the dress form.  The I Am Roses flowers used were: Small two-tone brown flowers (S10-40), White Curly Flowers (GS2-1) and Mixed Brown Cherry Blossoms (S3-827).

 

For the calendar pieces I cut some months from a calendar that I got for free in the mail.  I glimmer misted it with Old Lace and inked around the edges with Vintage Photo distress ink.  I then punched some tea dyed cardstock with my Stampin Up punch and inked the edges with Vintage Photo as well.  I stapled some elastic under the dress form with my tiny attacher to hold the rest of the calendar pieces.

Paper Bag Mini Album

Happy Friday!  Hope you all had a wonderful week and are ready for the weekend.  Here's a paper bag mini ablum I created for a friend's birthday.  I wish the pictures were more vivid cause you really can't see the sparkles on the pages.  But oh well, here it is anyways :)

I love making these mini's.  There's something about all the little pockets, it's like a treasure hunt!

{What I love about Today} Art Journal Page

Hey there! Here's an art journal page that I worked on today. While creating it I wrote down the products I used so that I could list it. I kinda find it funny that looking at the list now I never would have thought that I actually used every single one (but I did). That's my favorite thing about painting in my art journal, all the wonderful layers! Sometimes I feel bad for covering things up but then realize it's all part of the process. That although you may no longer see it on your page, it contributed to make it what it is.

{Soar and Fly}

Heya! So I have to admit that I'm very bad about cleaning up after myself (at least when it comes to my art and scrapbook supplies). It's just like cooking for me, I love to cook but hate to wash dishes afterwards :p Now that I've confessed to that it's no surprise that the supplies I used for these two pieces are the same supplies I used for my journal page on my first blog post. I decided since they were sitting so patiently on my table waiting to be put back in their proper place I'd give them alittle more play time and create something else with them.
I wanted to change it up a bit so I made the red color more dominant on one piece, and the orange and yellows on the other piece. I think I may make these into covers for a new journal since they're bright and cheerful.

Birdcage Mini Album and Card

Hello! As you can see I'm not very good about posting often :p
I haven't been able to create anything new since my first post so
I decided to share something I created a couple of weeks ago for
Mother's Day.

I made a tiny little mini album that fits nicely in one of the birdcages that you can get at Michaels.

The flower on top is by Prima and the trim along the bottom of the cage is Webster's Pages.

I tied misc. lace, ribbon, and beaded trim to the handle loop. The paper line is Webster's Pages as well (I absolutely LOVE everything by them).
I bounded the album with my Cinch. The mini roses are from Recollections, and the charms are an ebay find.
The little birdie is from the Tim Holtz birdcage die (as if you didn't know :p).
You can't tell from the pics but all the pages were glimmer misted with dazzling diamonds.
Here's the card I made to go with the present :)
The flowers and pearl accents are
from Recollections.
The card is embossed, and inked around with Vintage photo distress ink.
The quote is from Daisy D's and the pink trim is a sticker border from MME. The crochet lace is also from an ebay find.

{Dream, Fly, Soar} Art Journal Page

Hiya! Here is my first blog entry. I've tried before to maintain a blog but never felt I had anything (or at least worthwhile) to share. So here's hoping I can keep up with this one.

Last night I was pondering in bed how there were so many things I wanted to accomplish, but have yet to do so. I suspect (or rather know) it's because I'm constantly setting myself up to fail, so I never attempt to give it a go in the first place. Well...not anymore *fingers crossed*. I mean what do I have to lose right !?! If anything, I would have learned something in the process.

That being said, I immediately got off my rump and documented this affirmation, granted this was around 12 midnight.
But hey, when youre inspired you gotta go for it right!
It's not good to keep your muse waiting.
